Our program’s mission is to train the next generation of academic neonatologists so that they can function as independent, competent, compassionate and well-rounded physician educators and physician-scientists.Our aim is to graduate trainees who:
- Are skilled and compassionate neonatologists focused on the unique needs of the neonates in the community that they practice.
- Are engaged in high quality research and improving the care and understanding of diseases in neonates.
- Continue to practice with an academic/clinical focus and focus on the life-long learning.
A comprehensive clinical experience is provided at our state-of-the-art, Regional Perinatal Center at the Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital. Our educational goals emphasize clinical excellence and individualized scholarly research focused on each fellow’s interests. This is accomplished through a structured curriculum that includes perinatal physiology, clinical neonatology, research methodology, statistics and completion of a research project mentored by an experienced faculty member.
Our vast catchment area and diversity of expertise amongst our faculty, coupled with a vibrant pediatric residency program and academic research, provides an ideal setting for our Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship program.
