Pediatric Sleep Medicine Program Expands to Serve More Patients
First center offering pediatric sleep diagnostics and treatment in the region
The Pediatric Center for Sleep Medicine at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital has increased its number of sleep study procedure rooms in six locations throughout New Jersey to meet the growing need of children within Central New Jersey.
The Hackensack Meridian Center for Sleep Medicine consists of state-of-the-art facilities committed to providing first-class sleep diagnostics and treatment. The center is staffed by a team that specializes in pediatrics, and a board-certified pediatric pulmonologist and pediatric sleep medicine specialist, Chee Chun Tan, M.D., who evaluates, diagnoses and treats children’s sleep disorders. Sleep studies in children provide key information about a child’s sleep patterns, leg movements, blood oxygen levels, heart rhythm, breathing and snoring patterns.
The sleep center offered by Hackensack Meridian Children’s Health is the first in the region offering first-class sleep diagnostics and treatment, to infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Our centers are staffed by board-certified experts in pediatric sleep medicine who can evaluate, diagnose and treat children’s sleep problems. Pediatric patients are ensured the utmost care, compassion and expertise.
“Early detection of sleep disorders is critical to ensure quality of life and decrease the long-term effects of cardiovascular and metabolic health risks associated with poor sleep quality,” said Dr. Tan.
Sleep center clinicians evaluate, diagnose and treat a range of pediatric sleep conditions, including:
- Circadian (biological clock) rhythm disorders
- Insomnia
