K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center Division Chief of Pediatric Nephrology Joins Saving Young Lives Executive Board

International kidney disease expert Guillermo Hidalgo, M.D., serving organization dedicated to global acute kidney injury care advocacy

Guillermo Hidalgo, M.D., international expert on kidney disease and division chief of pediatric nephrology at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, has been invited to serve on the executive board of Saving Young Lives, a collaborative international organization that advocates for the treatment of acute kidney injury (AKI) in low resourced areas of the world.

Dr. Hidalgo has been working with the organization in recent years as a physician lecturer and trainer of pediatric kidney specialists treating patients throughout Latin America and in Asia. In 2023, the first “Train the trainers course" occurred in Antigua, Guatemala. A second Latin American training workshop occurred in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He has been raising awareness and training Pediatric Nephrologists in Peritoneal Dialysis catheter placement to save lives.
