What to Expect
The first step in the medical weight loss program is a comprehensive evaluation. This process includes blood tests, an EKG and a review of your health history. Based on the results of your evaluation, our expert team will craft a personalized care plan, which may include:
- Nutritional guidance: A plan that meets your dietary preferences while incorporating balanced nutrition to support your weight loss goals. You can also work with our registered dieticians who can help develop a meal plan.
- Exercise prescription: An exercise regimen tailored to your fitness level and focused on activities that you enjoy and can sustain long-term.
- Medication management: Based on your case and your insurance coverage*, we can prescribe FDA-approved weight loss medications to help suppress appetite, boost metabolism or reduce insulin resistence. While taking medication, we will monitor you closely for any potential side effects.
*A weight loss medication prescription depends on each patient and their particular insurance coverage.
- Behavioral therapy: Counseling sessions that can address underlying emotional and behavioral factors contributing to weight gain, helping you develop healthier habits and coping strategies.
- Bariatric surgery: If medical management fails, we offer a range of weight loss surgeries and procedures tailored to meet your individual needs, many of which can be performed laparoscopically or robotically, including gastric band, gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy (gastric sleeve) and bariatric revision surgery.
- Ongoing support and monitoring: Regular follow-up appointments with our medical team will track your progress, adjust your treatment plan as needed and provide ongoing support.
Participating in the medical weight loss program requires a commitment to long-term lifestyle changes. Contrary to a "quick fix", this program emphasizes sustainable habits for lasting success in managing weight and overall health.
