About This Location
Hackensack University Medical Center is one of the few children’s hospitals in New Jersey with a pediatric program that holds a Joint Commission palliative care certification. The goals of palliative care are to relieve symptoms and improve the quality of life for those with serious or advanced illness. Palliative care can be provided alongside treatments. We also work with community-based hospice and home-care agencies to arrange palliative care in your home.
We care for children who have been diagnosed with serious conditions, including:
- Complex Genetic and Congenital Conditions
- Progressive Neurological Disorders
- Advanced Cancer and Blood Disorders
- Severe Heart or Lung Disease
Our team is made up of pediatric specialists, including pediatric palliative care physicians, advanced practice nurses, social workers and child life specialists who work together to provide comprehensive support. Our practice, part of Hackensack Meridian Health Medical Group and Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital, is made possible through the generous support of The Valerie Fund.

Our team sees children for inpatient consults, outpatient clinic visits and telehealth visits. During the consultation, we evaluate your child’s health and feelings, your family’s needs and your care team’s medical plan.
