Location Summary

The Center for Memory Loss and Brain Health at Hackensack University Medical Center offers integrated, high-quality screening, diagnostic and treatment services for adults living with cognitive or memory impairment caused by conditions such as Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. We strive to optimize brain function with a focus on minimizing the effects of associated medical problems and optimizing healthy behavior.

We understand how a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia can disrupt a family. Our services support both the patient and their care provider by bringing together all of the specialists and services a patient and family may need in one clinic, during one visit.

We have assembled an expert team of fellowship-trained physicians from neurology and geriatric medicine to lead the program, along with:

  • Medical assistants and administrative staff who help with appointments and support you during your visits
  • Neuropsychologists to assess cognitive health
  • Counseling psychologists to help with the emotional effects of cognitive impairment
  • Social workers to connect each family to resources in their community
  • Research coordinators who manage clinical trials and can explain possible participation in these vital studies
  • Dieticians who offer nutritional support and guidance

The Memory Loss and Brain Health Center engages in population-based clinical and translational research to advance the science of dementia care affording New Jersey residents who are living with dementia access to some of the most advanced, most promising therapies before they are widely available.

The Center’s clinicians collaborate with organizations such as the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, Act Now Foundation, the national Alzheimer’s Association, and Wyckoff YMCA to provide community and clinician education, support groups, and access to community-based resources.
