Hackensack Meridian commits $25 million to psychiatric hospital in merger

Hackensack Meridian Health has completed its deal to add Carrier Clinic, a 297-bed psychiatric hospital and behavioral health network, as the 17th hospital in its system. Hackensack Meridian, based in Edison, N.J., said it will invest $25 million in Carrier's 100-acre Belle Mead campus, hospital officials said. Garrett said resources are desperately needed in New Jersey, where the death toll from opioid overdoses is expected to hit 3,000 for 2018.
