Physician Group Honors Hackensack Meridian JFK Johnson Center for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation

The Hackensack Meridian JFK Johnson Center for Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation has been honored by the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America as the “Best Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.”

Iqbal Jafri, M.D., Medical Director of the Center, accepted the award on behalf of the specially trained physicians, cardiac nurses, exercise physiologists, and other professional staff members working to improve the lives of patients with serious cardiac and pulmonary conditions.

The Center provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation for patients who have experienced a heart attack, cardiac event, or serious pulmonary disease — and has the expertise to treat the most challenging cases, such as those with heart transplants, Left Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs), and lung transplants.

“I am honored to accept this recognition on behalf of our Center,” Dr. Jafri said. “All of us are committed to helping our patients return to their highest level of independence and quality of life. Our goal is for patients to recover faster, live longer, and feel better.”

The Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) is a non-profit professional association of Pakistani physicians dedicated to fostering scientific development and education in the field of medicine and delivery of health care, without regard to race, color, creed, gender, or age.

“We are thankful for the association for recognizing our Center,” said Sara Cuccurullo, M.D., Medical Director and Vice President of the JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute. “Every day, we see our patients build up their cardiac and pulmonary strength with the close monitoring and support of our team. We see our patients’ overall health and quality of life dramatically improve. “

The Center provides closely monitored exercise programs designed for each patient and provides psychological support, nutritional guidance, and behavior modification, such as smoking cessation. The Center is located at 65 James Street, Edison, New Jersey. For more information, call 732-321-7070.
