Hackensack Meridian Health Opens Three New Urgent Care PLUS Facilities, Expanding Access to High-Quality, Convenient Care

Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest and most comprehensive health network, announced the opening of three new Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care PLUS facilities, expanding access to a wide spectrum of health care services across Bergen, Hudson, and Essex Counties. The Urgent Care PLUS centers will provide fast, high-quality, convenient care, giving patients an alternative to the Emergency Room or traditional urgent care. The new facilities are staffed with emergency medicine providers and have the resources to run moderately complex diagnostic tests, as well as advanced imaging, providing a higher level of care compared to a typical urgent care.

“Hackensack Meridian Health is dedicated to meeting the needs of the communities we serve by providing high-quality, convenient care,” said Robert C. Garrett, FACHE, CEO, Hackensack Meridian Health. “Our new Urgent Care PLUS centers provide accessible, outstanding, compassionate care for patients in one convenient location. Patients in Bergen, Hudson and Essex Counties can now get the care they deserve closer to home – when and where they need it.”

The Urgent Care PLUS facilities are now open to patients, 365 days a year, at the following locations:

  • Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care PLUS – Wyckoff – 327 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff, New Jersey (Boulder Run Shopping Center – next to Stop and Shop)
  • Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care PLUS – Hoboken – 5 Marine View Plaza, Suite 101, Hoboken, New Jersey (Corner of 1st and Hudson streets)

Our Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care PLUS – West Orange located at 769 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, New Jersey (Essex Medical Building), will open early 2025.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, emergency rooms across the nation experienced overcrowding. Since the pandemic, emergency departments continue to see patients who may not necessarily need emergency room care. Urgent Care PLUS gives patients an important, comprehensive option when seeking health care services.

“Hackensack Meridian Health is committed to building healthier communities and transforming healthcare delivery,” said Mike Geiger, Senior Vice President, Health Ventures, Hackensack Meridian Health. “Our Urgent Care PLUS centers provide a higher acuity of care in the community, while giving patients all the benefits of advanced medical equipment and experienced emergency room department staff, but with the accessibility and a shorter wait time of a traditional urgent care facility.”

Each facility is staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians and supported by a professional nursing and support staff with emergency and critical care experience. Urgent Care PLUS provides extensive care in a “One Stop” model, offering services including:

  • CT scans
  • X-rays
  • Ultrasounds
  • On-site labs
  • EKG
  • Pulmonary function test
  • Complex wound repair
  • Cases requiring IV medication, fluids, and drips

“Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care PLUS facilities are equipped to handle a wide range of medical concerns, giving patients a one-stop shop for treatment,” Arthur Calise, D.O., FACOEP, board certified emergency medicine physician and Medical Director for both West Orange and Hoboken Urgent Care PLUS locations. “We are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality, coordinated care to the communities we serve and look forward to giving patients a convenient new alternative to the emergency room or traditional urgent care centers.”

The opening of these facilities is part of Hackensack Meridian Health’s investment in expanding access to high-quality, affordable medical care closer to home. As part of New Jersey’s largest health network, Hackensack Meridian Health has opened three Health and Wellness Centers in Paramus, Eatontown and Clark, which provide outpatient primary, specialty and urgent care to patients. Hackensack Meridian Health plans to open more Health and Wellness Centers in Clifton and Freehold in 2025, further expanding access to its award-winning care. These centers are powered by Hackensack Meridian Medical Group, which continues to grow and now includes more than 1,800 physicians and advanced providers at over 360 locations.

At Urgent Care PLUS, patients can expect to pay lower out-of-pocket copays, as compared to emergency department copays. No appointments are necessary.
