The Trauma Surgery team treats more than 2,000 patients annually, delivering cutting-edge care in one of the region’s most advanced trauma centers. Our programs have earned Disease-Specific Certification from the Joint Commission for excellence in treating hip fractures, particularly in older adults. Our evidence-based hip fracture treatment regimens are designed to minimize health complications and reduce the risk of related mortality. Every patient aged 65 and older presenting with a hip fracture receives a specialized geriatric consultation and referrals to tailored follow-up care to ensure the best possible recovery outcomes.
Designated Trauma Centers
Hackensack Meridian Health proudly hosts two nationally recognized Trauma Centers: Hackensack University Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center, a Level II Trauma Center. These advanced facilities meet all state of New Jersey trauma care standards and are verified by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), ensuring patients receive the highest standard of emergency and trauma care.

What We Treat
Our trauma team cares for patients with all types of orthopedic injuries, including:
- Hip, ankle, and wrist fractures
- Industrial or workplace accidents
- Open fractures
- Pediatric fractures or trauma
- Pelvic fractures requiring complex surgery
- Periarticular fractures (breaks in the bone occurring in or near a joint)
