Pathway to BSN Track Admission Requirements

Please note: If you have been dismissed from a previous nursing program, you are NOT eligible to attend our nursing program.

 

General Education and Science Courses

• General education courses need not be taken prior to applying or starting the pathways to BSN nursing track
• However, there are 10 general education and science courses required for the program (see curriculum section below for listed courses). These courses must be completed in the sequence shown in each semester if not completed prior to starting
• How and When do I take the general education and science courses:
  • Option 1: Applicants can take these courses prior to starting the program at the college of their choice
  • Option 2: Applicants take these courses at Union College of Union County New Jersey while they are taking the nursing courses at JFK Muhlenberg Snyder School. Note: Once an active student at our school, all remaining general education and science courses must be taken at UCNJ

Transfer Credits

• No grade lower than a C is considered for transfer
• The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides a method of earning college credits by taking examinations in various subject areas. Students may apply for CLEP through www.collegeboard.com. Union College recognizes CLEP scores and will apply credit transfer in areas if CLEP scores meet the college requirements. Credit will not be given where there is evidence of previous academic work

Application Requirements

It is the applicant’s responsibility to provide the following information, verification and/or credentials to the HACKENSACK MERIDIAN HEALTH JFK MUHLENBERG SNYDER SCHOOLS ADMISSIONS OFFICE:

• On the school website click “Apply Now” then click on “NursingCAS Application”
• Create an account on NursingCAS (If you have an account, add our program)
• Select the term in which applying for (example: Fall or Spring/year)
• Select “Add a Program” and type “JFK Muhlenberg”
• Select the program type (example: Pathways to BSN.)
• It is important to please read the program details page for all instructions on the application
• Complete application and pay fee

Documents Required

General Admission Details

• D’s, F’s, withdrawals, and science grades will be considered in application review
• Students with less than 12 college credits will have their high school GPA evaluated (Overall GPA Only)
• Applicants attending Union College prior to becoming Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder students are not considered transfer students.
• Admission to the School of Nursing is processed through the Admissions Office at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools. It is not necessary to apply separately to Union College.
• Nursing applicants may only select one nursing track. Acceptance into the track will be based on the School’s criteria.
• Individuals may only apply during the open application dates listed on the homepage of the school website.
• The School accepts applications for the Fall (September) and Spring (January) semester.
• Admission is selective and competitive.
• The Admissions Committee may request that the applicant clarify information presented to the Schools before an admissions decision is made.
• Applicants will receive a notification by email with the Admissions Committee's decision.
• Individuals who are accepted into a program will be required to submit a nonrefundable acceptance fee and receive instructions on the next steps.
• Applicants who are declined admissions into one program and apply to another program, must complete a new application, and submit another application fee. Students who wish to transfer from one program to another program within the Schools must complete a new application form, write an essay, submit an official updated Union College transcript.
• Any student who has a documented learning disability will be given reasonable accommodations throughout the program of study
• Students are expected to be able to access and use a computer and printer. Course material, certain exams, review material and hospital technology require the use of computer and printers.
• Placement in any of the School’s courses is on a seat-available basis.
