JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools Scholarships

JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools annually receive scholarship monies from private donors. Scholarships are gift monies and do not have to be paid back. Usually the scholarships are need-based, however, students who demonstrate academic excellence are highly considered. Documented need is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The Centennial Umbrella Scholarship provides funding for academically gifted nursing students enrolled in the JFK Muhlenberg Harold B. and Dorothy A Snyder School of Nursing

Award Criteria

1. The nominee must be a student enrolled in the School of Nursing who has completed the first semester in the nursing program with documented financial need.
2. The nominee must have attained a Nursing GPA of 3.0 or higher
3. Full time and part time students are eligible to apply
4. Scholarship's recipients may be awarded funds in multiple years.

This Fund was created in memory of Mrs. Connie Massari from her husband, Joseph Massari. Income is restricted to school of Nursing scholarships. Awardees will receive a $2,000 scholarship.

Award Criteria

The Scholarship requires financial need based upon the current year FAFSA results. Student must have a Nursing GPA of3.0 or better and must complete the first clinical semester of the Nursing program. Both full time and part time students are eligible.

Supporting Documentation

1. Students demonstrate acceptable academic performance with a minimum nursing GPA of 3.0.
2. Student has completed the current academic year FAFSA.
3. Transcripts showing that the student has completed at least one clinical semester as a JFK Muhlenberg student.

The Kathryn A. Gilhooly Memorial Scholarship was established to be awarded to one student in the Spring and one student in the Fall semesters each year who demonstrate merit and financial need and who have completed Nursing 221 and excelled in Mental Health Nursing

Award Criteria

1. The nominees must demonstrate academic performance and have attained a Nursing GPA of 2. 7 or higher
2. The nominees must demonstrate financial need determined by the current year FAFSA.
3. The nominees must document evidence of volunteerism.
4. The nominees must have completed one full semester of the nursing program.

The Edward Ladd Scholarship fund was established on January 20th, 1989. The purpose of the Scholarship isto annually award two medical imaging students who have demonstrated
both merit and financial aid. The scholarship will award 1 radiography and 1 sonography student per year to the amount of $1000 each.

Award Criteria

Merit is demonstrated by academic performance and financial need as determined by the Muhlenberg School of Medical Imaging personnel. First preference for this scholarship shall
be given to medical imaging school enrollees.

Supporting Documentation

I. Student demonstrates acceptable academic performance with at least 3.0 GPA in the professional courses in the prior semester/s.
2. Student demonstrates volunteerism by serving on the student government association, acting as a class representative, or volunteering in his/her community. Documentation
required.
3. Student demonstrates financial need.
4. Student must have completed at least one full semester on the program and be registered for the preceding semester.

The Dorothy W. Petsch Scholarship was established upon the death of Dorothy Petsch a graduate of the Muhlenberg School of Nursing to be awarded $2,500 to two students each year who demonstrate merit and financial need and are enrolled in the JFK Muhlenberg Harold B. and Dorothy A Snyder School of Nursing.

Award Criteria

1. The nominee must be a student enrolled in the School of Nursing
2. The nominees must demonstrate outstanding academic performance and have attained a Nursing GPA of 3.0 or higher.
3. The nominees must demonstrate financial need according to the current year's FAFSA.

The Pettingill Scholarship was established in 1985 to assist students with financial need who are enrolled in the JFK Medical Center Muhlenberg Harold B. and Dorothy A Snyder School of Nursing

Award Criteria

1. Preference will be given to students with an interest in Public Health Nursing
2. The applicant has a GPA of2.7 or higher.
3. The nominees must have completed one semester at the School of Nursing
4. Students •must demonstrate financial need and have balances once financial aid awards have been applied.

This Scholarship is awarded to an incoming nursing student who demonstrates a strong desire to pursue a career in nursing.

Award Criteria

The nominee must be a student enrolled in the School of Nursing who is entering the first semester in the nursing program.

1. The Applicant must provide documented financial need (FAFSA).
2. The applicant must provide a written essay describing why they want to be a nurse.
3. Each interested applicant will be interviewed by a panel of nursing faculty.
4. The nominee must have attained a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
5. Full time and part time students are eligible to apply.
6. Generic, Pathways and Accelerated students are eligible to apply.
7. Scholarship recipients will receive one award in the amount equal to full tuition upon evaluation of their application and acceptance into the nursing program of their choice.
