Our 1 year UCNS-Accredited Headache Medicine Fellowship offers one position per year.
Program Mission and Goals
Our mission is to provide our fellows with the clinical knowledge of headache medicine, preparing our graduates for independent practice in the field and to gain the skills needed to establish a successful Headache Medicine Center.
Throughout their training, fellows will gain expertise in the basic and clinical science of headache medicine, and the medical and procedural management of primary and secondary headache disorders. A key focus of the program is to develop proficiency in managing patients presenting with complex or intractable headaches, including those with rare headache disorders and syndromes. Fellows will learn to lead and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the holistic care of their patients. Ultimately, our program is committed to helping fellows cultivate the necessary skills to pursue a successful and impactful career in the field of headache medicine.
Curriculum and Rotations
Our curriculum offers a balanced and robust training experience, with a strong emphasis on hands-on clinical learning. The 12-month program is structured into various clinical rotations that provide in-depth exposure to all facets of headache medicine.
- 12 weeks Headache Clinic
- 4 weeks Concussion/TBI Clinic
- 4 weeks Integrative Medicine
- 4 weeks Pain Clinic
- 4 weeks Neurosurgery
- 4 weeks Sleep Medicine
- 4 weeks Neuroradiology
- 4 weeks Neuro-ophthalmology
- 4 weeks Behavioral Medicine
- 4 weeks Research
- 4 weeks Vacation
Research
Our fellowship program strongly encourages fellows to engage in academic research. Fellows are required to complete a quality improvement initiative project during their training. Faculty will provide dedicated mentorship to help bring their ideas to fruition. To foster academic growth and dissemination of knowledge, fellows are supported in presenting their research findings at national conferences, and in publishing their work in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.

Our program includes a robust didactic curriculum to supplement clinical training. Fellows will have protected time to attend a variety of conferences, including:

Our Faculty
Our faculty includes board-certified headache medicine specialists, neuro-ophthalmologists, movement disorder specialists, physiatrists, neurosurgeons and pediatric neurologists who are leaders in the field. They are dedicated to providing exceptional mentorship and training to our fellows.
Teaching Opportunities
Our fellowship program provides a rich and dynamic educational environment with abundant opportunities for fellows to develop their teaching skills. Situated at the same academic center as the Adult Neurology Residency Program, our fellows are integral in training the next generation of neurologists. They have the chance to mentor and instruct a diverse group of learners.
