Hackensack Meridian Health Leaders Honored by NJBIZ Among New Jersey’s Top Lawyers

Audrey Murphy, Esq., MSN, RN, and Ann Gavzy, Esq., recognized as state’s top law professionals in 2020

Hackensack Meridian Health is pleased to announce two of its leaders, Ann Gavzy, Esq., and Audrey Murphy, Esq., have been named to the NJBIZ 2020 Law Power 50 list.

Garrett, FACHE, chief executive officer of Hackensack Meridian Health. “Ann and Audrey are among the top professionals in their field, and we are grateful for their leadership and service at Hackensack Meridian Health.”

Ann Gavzy, Esq., is executive vice president and chief legal officer, Transactions and Corporate Services for Hackensack Meridian Health. She previously served as senior vice president of Legal Affairs and general counsel at Meridian Health, responsible for initiating, overseeing and coordinating all legal services for the health system. She contributed greatly to its growth since joining the organization in 1997 and guided the health system through an evolving health care landscape. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association and the Health Care Roundtable, a limited membership group of chief legal officers from around the country. Ms. Gavzy is a recipient of the NJBIZ 50 Best Women in Business Award and the NJBIZ General Counsel of the Year Award. Ms. Gavzy was named a First Chair Award Recipient, which recognizes America’s most innovative and accomplished in-house counsel for achievements and contributions to the legal community.

Audrey Murphy, Esq., MSN, RN, serves as executive vice president, chief legal officer, Operations for Hackensack Meridian Health, playing an integral role in the legal aspects of some of the health network’s most significant endeavors. Ms. Murphy began as associate counsel and director of Risk Management in 1992 at Hackensack University Medical Center, and previously served as executive vice president and chief legal officer at Hackensack University Medical Center. She has dual expertise as an attorney and as a nurse, navigating high-level strategic operations with a deep understanding of patient care. She recently received the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey’s CIANJ Visionary Award. Ms. Murphy was also a recipient of the General Counsel of the Year for Healthcare by NJBIZ and was honored by NJBIZ among its Best 50 Women in Business. Ms. Murphy has also been awarded New Jersey Law Journal In-House Counsel of the Year.

According to NJBIZ, the Law Power 50 list recognizes the state’s top lawyers who demonstrate their acumen in the courtroom, boardroom, legislative chambers, or at the bargaining table.
