February 12, 2019
Hackensack Meridian Health, New Jersey’s largest health network, today announced a collaboration with Microsoft to advance the network’s health care information technology transformation and deliver solutions that improve experiences for their patients and team members. Using Microsoft Azure, the Microsoft’s cloud computing platform, Hackensack Meridian Health will improve efficiency, strengthen security and provide flexibility, enabling team members to provide the highest quality care.
"We are thrilled to announce our collaboration with Microsoft today, which will further strengthen our culture of innovation," said Robert C. Garrett, CEO of Hackensack Meridian Health. "Microsoft Azure will ensure our growing network and dedicated team members have the flexibility, efficiency and security they need to focus on what we do best: providing high-quality care to our patients."
Microsoft Azure provides cloud service offerings to help organizations meet business objectives and tackle technology challenges. Hackensack Meridian Health, which has grown exponentially in recent years, will use Microsoft Azure to advance its hybrid-cloud strategy. A hybrid-cloud platform combines public and private clouds to allow organizations to scale their resources securely from on-premises to the cloud in a secure way.
"Healthcare is undergoing a significant transformation powered by cloud and AI," said Chris Sakalosky, Vice President, US Health and Life Sciences at Microsoft. "With solutions powered by Microsoft Azure, Hackensack Meridian Health will be able to provide better experiences for their patients and team members."
Microsoft’s innovative cloud service offerings will give Hackensack Meridian Health’s growing network the capacity and flexibility it needs to scale up and down. This cloud approach is cost-effective and allows the network to take advantage of resources when needed. Hackensack Meridian Health will use Microsoft Azure as part of a multi-cloud strategy.
"Microsoft Azure will help Hackensack Meridian Health advance our cloud strategy," said David Reis, Ph.D., executive vice president and CIO, Hackensack Meridian Health. "Our collaboration with Microsoft will help us deliver secure, agile innovation while driving down fixed costs, strengthening security and increasing flexibility."
With 17 hospitals and 500 locations across New Jersey, coordination is critical across the network. Microsoft Azure will play a large part in Hackensack Meridian Health’s approach to effectively take advantage of a consolidated source for identity management across multiple domains.
"Implementing identity management across hospitals will not only strengthen Hackensack Meridian Health’s culture of excellence, it will improve efficiency and create a consistent user experience for our team members," added Dr. Reis.
