Our EMS Services
Wheelchair Mobility Assistance Vehicles
Wheelchair mobility assistance vehicles (MAVs) provide transportation for stable, alert patients to and from medical appointments, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, ambulatory care centers and hospitals. Our MAVs are modified vans with a lift to safely move patients in and out of the vehicle. Our MAV operators are CPR certified, but are not considered medical providers.
For assistance scheduling MAV transportation, please call 732-321-7700 and select Option 3.
Basic Life Support
Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances respond to both emergency 9-1-1 calls and non-emergency requests for transportation. Our BLS ambulances are staffed with two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) licensed and trained to provide basic life support care. This includes patient assessments, taking vital signs like heart rate and blood pressure, oxygen administration, choking care, cardiac arrest care including use of the automatic external defibrillator, splinting broken bones, wound care and bleeding management, childbirth and assisting patients with taking certain medications.
For emergencies, dial 9-1-1. For assistance scheduling non-emergency transportation, please call:
- MICCOM Communications Center at 201-883-7100 (Bergen County)
- JFK EMS Communications Center at 732-321-7837 (Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean Counties)
Advanced Life Support
Advanced Life Support (ALS) units respond to 9-1-1 calls for patients who require advanced care. Our ALS units are staffed with two crew members who are either licensed paramedics or mobile intensive care nurses. In addition to basic life support care, our ALS providers assess patients using heart monitors, can perform advanced airway management skills, provide intravenous therapy, collect blood samples, give a broad range of emergency medications and treat more complex medical conditions. Our paramedics and nurses work directly with emergency physicians to ensure the highest quality prehospital care reaches our patients before they reach the Emergency Department.
For emergencies, dial 9-1-1.
Specialty Care Transport
Our specialty care transport teams are staffed by nurses, paramedics and EMTs, specially trained to provide ICU level care when moving between hospitals. Our EMS critical care teams are experienced providers trained to care for patients requiring complex treatment such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, Impella devices, blood transfusions, transvenous pacemakers, chest tubes, surgical airways, ventricular assist devices, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and fetal heart monitoring.
