Conferences

Geriatric Pearl twice a week (in July)-- Rapid fire sessions to get incoming fellows comfortable with care for older adults and various geriatric syndromes.

Didactics–twice a week rest of the year–Provides comprehensive, patient-centered education, blending innovative research with the best clinical practices. It includes monthly case conferences, journal club and M & M twice a year.

Board Review–in the second half of year, weekly, to get fellows ready for their Geriatric boards.

NJ Geriatric Consortium–monthly conference, a collaborative learning experience of all Geriatric fellowship programs in NJ. 3-4 Geriatric experts presenting on various topics monthly, updates on research, patient care, topics including Geriatric syndromes. Opportunity to network with geriatric fellows and faculty.

MSK conference–once a year, 2 day complimentary conference, communication-based concerns and barriers when interacting with the older cancer patient (including caregivers and family members), evaluation of decision making capacity, as well as how to work with an interpreter for patients who suffer both from dementia and experience a language barrier. 

AGS annual meeting–An educational event in geriatrics, providing the latest information on clinical care,research on aging, and innovative models of care delivery

The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term–2 day conference once a year, attend future’s program

NY Metro Area Consortium to Strengthen Psychosocial Programming in Geriatric Fellowships


Community Outreach

Our fellows participate in community outreach in partnership with several organizations, including HARP (Health Awareness Regional Program), Alzheimer’s Association and local senior centers and long-term care facilities.


Administrative Communities

Our faculty and fellows participate in several administrative communities, including

  • Geriatric Council, 
  • Trauma Service Line, Orthopedic Service Line, 
  • ER Service Line 
  • Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infections (CAUTI) Service Line
  • MDS meeting at Long Term care

Medical Students and Residents

Geriatrics fellows have precepting/Mentoring Opportunities of trainees rotating at Geriatrics which includes daily bedside rounds in the acute care and subacute care setting and precepting in the ambulatory setting for medical students, medical residents.
