Accelerated Track Requirements

Note: Students who have been dismissed from previous nursing programs are NOT eligible to apply to the Accelerated Program.

• All general education and science courses must be completed prior to starting the Accelerated Nursing program. Proof of registration on outstanding courses is required.
• GPA Requirements:
  • Must have a 2.7 or higher overall GPA
  • D’s, F’s, withdrawals, and science grades will be considered in application review
• TEAS Requirements – 70% score or higher for Reading and 70% score or higher for Math
• Challenge exams are offered for biology and chemistry courses through Union College
• Up to 40 comparable credits for those with a bachelor’s degree. No grade lower than a C is considered for transfer.
• The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) provides a method of earning college credits by taking examinations in various subject areas. Students may apply for CLEP through www.collegeboard.com. Union College recognizes CLEP scores and will apply credit in areas if CLEP scores meet the college requirements. Credit will not be given where there is evidence of previous academic work.
• Applicants attending Union College prior to becoming Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder students are not considered transfer students.
• Admission to the School of Nursing is processed through the Admissions Office at Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Muhlenberg Snyder Schools. It is not necessary to apply separately to Union College.
• Nursing applicants should select only one nursing track. Acceptance into the track will be based on the School’s criteria.
• Individuals may only apply during the open application dates

NOTE: Application requirements – It is the applicant's responsibility to provide the following information, verification and/or credentials to the HACKENSACK MERIDIAN HEALTH JFK MUHLENBERG SNYDER SCHOOLS ADMISSION OFFICE.

• Official High School transcript or GED test scores are required
• Foreign transcripts will require an evaluation from a current member of NACES (the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) at www.naces.org
• Official transcripts from all schools attended (college, vocational schools, schools of practical nursing, etc.)
• One complete letter of reference from either a supervisor or professor
• ATI TEAS – Entrance Exam
• Must be a U.S. Citizen, Naturalized Citizen, or have a Permanent Resident Card (green card)
• Essay (topic is listed in the application)
• Personal Statement
• Prior Baccalaureate, or Higher Degree

If you feel that your application needs additional explanation (i.e., academic history), please feel free to include a statement to this effect.

• Admission is selective and competitive
• All Applicants must participate in an interview as part of the admissions process
• The Admissions Committee may request that the applicant clarify information presented to the Schools before an admissions decision is made
• Applicants will receive a notification by e-mail with the Admissions Committee's decision. Individuals who are accepted into a program will receive a follow up e-mail with instructions on the next steps and will be required to submit a non-refundable acceptance fee.
• Applicants who are denied admissions into one program and apply to another program, must complete a new application and submit another application fee
• Any student who has a documented learning disability will be given reasonable accommodations throughout the program of study. For further information, see the Student Handbook for Nursing.
• Students are expected to be able to access and use a computer and printer. Course material, certain exams, review material and hospital technology require the use of computer and printers.
• Placement in any of the school’s courses is on a seat-available basis.
