Applying to Our General Surgery Program

Thank you for your interest in pursuing a General Surgery Residency position at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

Residency program applications will be accepted and reviewed only via ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). Applications will be accepted beginning in late September for the Match that takes place the following March.

Applicants are urged to submit their completed applications early in September when ERAS opens. This ensures prompt review of their applications and facilitates early correspondence for those candidates selected to interview with our program.

Our residency program application requirements are:

1. A passing score or a numerical score of 225 and above on USMLE Step I; A score of 235 and above on USMLE Step 2 CK; A passing score or a numerical score of 550 and above on COMLEX I; and a score of 625 and above on COMLEX II.
2. Satisfactory completion of clinical clerkships of at least 4 weeks duration in each (internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, and psychiatry). Foreign graduates can use their Rotating Internship Certificate as verification.
3. Identification of US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status. We accept J-1 visas. We do not accept H1b visas.
4. The deadline for application acceptance is December 1.
