About Greening The Cleaning® Program
The Greening the Cleaning® program and products launched in 2001 by Deirdre Imus, founder of The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® and a team of experts at Hackensack University Medical Center.
This program helps minimize the risks associated with exposure to traditional cleaning products for health care employees, patients and visitors by replacing all cleaning agents containing hazardous ingredients with less toxic alternatives.
To the greatest extent possible, Greening The Cleaning® products contain naturally-derived, plant and mineral-based ingredients that deliver the maximum level of efficacy at the least level of toxicity, are never tested on animals and are not formulated with animal-derived ingredients or known human carcinogens, mutagens, teratogens or endocrine disruptors.
Today, our award-winning Greening The Cleaning® products are used in hospitals, healthcare facilities, schools, government agencies and businesses nationwide.
Our Mission
We provide cleaning products that deliver the maximum level of efficacy at the least level of toxicity. This mission in action supports the Center’s goal: to identify, control and ultimately prevent toxic exposures in the environment that threaten our children's health.
Our Purpose
The Greening The Cleaning® program is dedicated to improving the immediate environment of public spaces such as hospitals, office buildings and schools, as well as the larger environment we all share.
100% of all profits from our Greening The Cleaning® products go to The Deirdre Imus Environmental Health Center® for supporting the Greening The Cleaning® program and education and research to identify, control and ultimately prevent toxic exposures in the environment that threaten our children’s health.
“Here at The Goddard School, the benefits we have found after switching to Greening The Cleaning® program include savings on costs, toxicity, quantity and space. Most importantly, it is safer for our children, staff and environment.”
Lauren Baldwin, Owner, The Goddard School, Marlboro, N.J.
