• Brain Cancer: The Brain Tumor Center at JFK University Medical Center has been recognized by the Society of Neuro-Oncology as a Center of Excellence.
• Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program: The FACT accredited Adult Stem Cell transplant and cellular therapy program has grown to become the largest in the tri-state and among the top ten in the nation. Our team was the first in the country to receive Joint Commission Disease-Specific Care Certification for stem cell transplantation. We offer autologous (self), allogeneic (donated) stell cell transplantation for cancerous and noncancerous blood disorders.
• Breast Cancer: The breast cancer program at John Theurer Cancer Center has been awarded Disease-Specific Care Certification and the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. In addition, JFK University Medical Center, Riverview Medical Center and Hackensack University Medical Center are Accredited by the American College of Radiology as Breast Imaging Centers of Excellence.
• Children’s Cancer: Hackensack Meridian Health’s Children’s Cancer Institute is New Jersey’s premier pediatric center for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood disorders. The combined pediatric cancer care program at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital and K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital ranked #42 in the country, and is the only pediatric cancer program in New Jersey to rank in the top 50 by U.S. News & World Report.
• Colon Cancer: Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, and Ocean University Medical Center have been recognized as High Performing Procedures and Conditions hospitals for Colon Cancer Surgery by U.S. News & World Report 2025-2026. 
• Diagnostic Imaging: Ocean University Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center are designated Diagnostic Imaging Centers of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
• Gynecological Cancer Surgery: Hackensack University Medical Center is a High Performing Procedures and Conditions hospital for Gynecological Cancer Surgery by U.S. News & World Report 2025-2026.
• Leukemia, Lymphoma & Myeloma: Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Ocean University Medical Center, Mountainside Medical Center, and Raritan Bay Medical Center/Old Bridge Medical Center have been recognized as High Performing Procedures and Conditions hospitals for Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma by U.S. News & World Report 2025-2026.

• Pancreas, Liver, and Bile Duct Cancer: Jersey Shore University Medical Center has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval as a Center of Excellence for Pancreas, Liver and Bile Duct Cancer Certification.

Research to improve the understanding and treatment of cancer is happening in our laboratories and clinics every day as we harness the technology, genetics, immunology, cell biology and bioengineering to diagnose, prevent and treat cancer and other life-threatening and disabling diseases.

• Clinical Trials: Our clinical research team is comprised of more than 100 team members across multiple sub-specialties of cancer. John Theurer Cancer Center is conducting hundreds of clinical trials and is the top enroller of patients in Phase 1 clinical trials in New Jersey. Our Research Programs
• Immunotherapy: The next frontier in cancer, immunotherapy harnesses the immune system to eradicate cancer cells. These treatments include antibodies, small molecules and CAR T-cell and other cellular therapies.
• Pediatric immunotherapy: The Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation and Cellular Therapy Program at Joseph M. Sanzari Children’s Hospital is the only certified center in New Jersey to offer CAR T-cell therapy to pediatric patients.
• Robotic Surgery: We have one of the three largest programs in the New York metropolitan area for robotic surgery and are an international leader in the use of this technology, which often leads to better outcomes, fewer complications and a faster recovery. Cancer surgeons at John Theurer Cancer Center perform more minimally invasive cancer surgeries than any other center in New Jersey.
• Radiation therapy: Our robotic radiotherapy system optimizes cancer outcomes by delivering precise radiation therapy treatment to cancerous tumors throughout the body.
