Kidney Transplants in New Jersey

Hackensack University Medical Center's Kidney Transplant Program is among the fastest-growing in the nation. Patients who come to Hackensack for kidney transplants have much shorter waiting times to receive a deceased donor kidney than other centers in the tri-state area due to our donor-recipient matching.

If you are living with progressive, chronic kidney disease or kidney failure, you may be a candidate for a kidney transplant.

Surgical and Post-Surgical Kidney Transplant Care

When a compatible organ is available for transplantation, one of your transplant team members will contact you. During surgery, your own kidney will be left inside your body. Your surgeon will connect the donor kidney and make sure it has a good blood supply.

Using the LifePort Kidney Transporter, a machine preservation technology that increases a kidney’s viability and lifespan, as a part of our routine kidney transplant care we are able to provide patients new kidneys faster with better outcomes. After your kidney transplant, you will likely no longer need dialysis or other kidney disease treatments.
