After college, I took two years off to teach 5th-grade math and work for my college church's ministry service. I then studied for three years at the Hackensack-Meridian School of Medicine, before joining JSUMC for psychiatry residency. I love our program's culture of kindness and mutual service, as well as our teaching-oriented faculty.”

Vanshika Jain, M.D.

Desiree Psota, D.O.
“I have spent my whole life in New Jersey. I was raised and attended undergrad in North Jersey, graduated from Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in South Jersey, and now am completing my residency in Central Jersey. When I am not at work, you can find me hanging out with my family or, more likely, at the nearest ice cream or coffee shop! I plan to pursue a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry. What I love most about the psychiatry department at JSUMC is the culture. You can truly feel how much everyone around you cares about you and your education.”

Angad Singh, M.D.
“I completed medical school and psychiatry residency training in India, where I received my M.D. in Psychiatry. I then completed a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at JSUMC and am currently completing my General Psychiatry residency. My clinical and research interests include geriatric mental health, neurocognitive disorders, and the intersection of technology with psychiatric care. My hobbies include gaming, building Legos, playing soccer, and cooking. What I love most about our program is the camaraderie we share and how willing everyone is to help one another. The vibe and culture make it an amazing place to work.”

Serra Sozen, M.D.
“I am originally from Long Island and attended medical school at the University of Vermont. I was drawn to JSUMC because of the diverse patient population and wide array of psychopathology here -- as well as its proximity to my family, the beach, and New York City. My areas of interest in psychiatry include addiction, community/public psych, and neuromodulation. Outside of work, I enjoy fashion design and sewing, traveling and going to concerts.”
