Visitation Guidelines

As of January 9, 2025, Hackensack Meridian Health is requiring visitors wear masks during the duration of their visit with an admitted patient at the following locations:

  • Bayshore Medical Center
  • Carrier Clinic
  • Jersey Shore University Medical Center
  • JFK University Medical Center
  • Ocean University Medical Center

Masking is strongly encouraged in all other Hackensack Meridian Health facilities, but visitors may be asked to wear a mask in additional locations and/or scenarios based on risk.

Masks will continue to be provided at all Hackensack Meridian Health locations.

Hackensack Meridian Health’s masking guidance may change based on respiratory viral activity within its communities. We will continue to monitor respiratory viral activity and determine masking guidance accordingly.

Hackensack Meridian Health determines the COVID-19 level by county. This determination is made by assessing any available data, including, but not limited to:

  • the community transmission level for the county,
  • the trends over at least two weeks,
  • asymptomatic COVID positivity upon admission,
  • out of work Team Members and the severity/infectivity of the predominant respiratory viral infections.
Yes.  Anyone may choose to wear a mask based on their individual risk assessment and/or level of comfort. Hackensack Meridian Health will continue to have masks available for all of its team members, patients and visitors.

Masking may be required within specific areas of Hackensack Meridian Health locations where highly vulnerable patients are receiving care (e.g. NICU). Signs will be placed outside any area where universal masking is still in effect, and Hackensack Meridian Health will have masks available.
