Interventional Experience

HUMC Structural Heart Fellowship PhysiciansFellows will participate in the interventional and medical treatment of a variety of transcatheter structural and congenital heart procedures. Some of the more common procedures including aortic and mitral valve therapies, atrial and ventricular septal occlusion, left atrial appendage intervention, tricuspid valve, repair and replacement, and interventional heart failure related transcatheter procedures.

Throughout the year fellows will progress through the different procedural roles and by the end of the fellowship with the expectation of becoming "first operator" by the latter half of the year. In addition to the intervention experience there will be a strong focus on Preprocedural evaluation, including multimodality imaging.

Clinical Experience

Fellows spend approximately one day per week in the valve clinic and the remaining days of the week with the focus on structural and congenital intervention in the Hybrid OR. A strong emphasis will be placed on continuity of care for preprocedural evaluationto post procedural management.

Research Experience

We encourage fellows to participate in faculty-directed clinical research projects and present in major scientific meetings. Fellows also participate in our numerous clinical trials that we are a part of.
